West Pier, Brighton, early 2003
Built in the 1860's and designed by architect Eugenius Birch. I have photographed this pier a few times, but this is my favourite shot. I remember making this photograph well, because when I arrived, very early in the morning, I noticed that there was somebody meditating on the groyne I was intending to shoot from. So, I carefully stepped around them to find a spot nearer the sea and made my picture. Shot on film on a large format camera, and professionally drum scanned.
The image size is 20"x 12.7" and the paper size is 23.4" x 16.5". The print is made on Hahnemuhle Bamboo paper. It is captioned, blind embossed and signed.
